Direct Push Pre-Packed Well Installation

Direct Push wells are rapidly gaining client and regulatory acceptance across the nation. Using the wide variety of our Direct Push units, Vironex installs ¾" - 2" groundwater monitoring wells, sparge wells, and vapor extraction wells, at half the cost of conventional drilled wells. The wells provide a fast and cost effective way to monitor impacted sites.

There are three main components to Direct Push wells:

¾" to 2" Pre-Packed Screen:
Pre-Packed screens are constructed above ground and can be fabricated with a variety of screen sizes and sand packs to accommodate varying site conditions. Pre-Packed screens are fabricated in 5' foot sections and can easily be connected to any 5' interval length.

¾" to 2" Annular Seal (Compressed Foam):
Placed above the screen, the compressible foam seal is wrapped in a polyethylene sleeve, which expands instantly when it exits the bottom of the drive casing, to provide positive placement of a barrier that prevents solids from entering into the screened interval.

¾" to 2" Bentonite Sleeve:
Bentonite sleeve is a combination of silica sand and bentonite that is wrapped in construction paper. The sleeve is fabricated around a section of PVC piping, which is located above the annular seal. The bentonite seal provides an impermeable annular seal that prevents grout from intruding into the screened interval. Typical bentonite sleeves are constructed in 5' lengths, but can be custom built according to project needs prior to mobilizing to your site.
